If you or your friend have just gotten engaged, then you might be thinking about throwing an engagement party to celebrate the occasion with all your friends and family. An engagement party is a great way to announce that you and your partner are planning to get married and it’s a clever way to let your families and friends meet before the big day.
But there is a lot of planning and preparation that goes into throwing the perfect engagement party and you need to make sure that you have thought of every little detail in advance if you want to throw the best engagement party possible.
Here is how to plan an engagement party with jelly beans.
Plan A Guest List
Before you can start to plan anything, you need to know how many people you are planning to invite. Think about who you really want there, is it going to be a small thing for close friends and family, or do you want as many people as possible there?
Once you know how many people you are going to invite you can start to find a venue, a lot of venues charge per person so you need to know the number of people you are inviting before you can start looking. Remember to send the invitations out in plenty of time, if it is too short notice people might not be able to make it, especially if they are working or need to travel.
Think About Your Budget
Engagement parties can soon snowball so be sure to think about how much you are willing to spend and budget accordingly. If you are saving for a wedding then you don’t want to spend too much on the engagement party so it doesn’t hurt to look for deals and be thrifty.
You might need to shorten the guest list if you want to have your party at a venue, if not you can always throw the party in your home if it is big enough and you feel comfortable doing so, but you will need to prove all the food, drink and entertainment yourself and this can end up costing a lot of money if you are not careful.
Remember To Plan Some Entertainment
You need to keep your guest’s entertainment while they are at your party. As the host, you will most likely spend the night making the rounds and talking to everybody, but you cannot do this with everyone all at once.
Make sure to have some sort of entertainment, like a DJ or band prepared so that your guests are not bored. you can always make a playlist and have it playing in the background, but make sure no one can get to it and change the order when you are not looking!
Decided How You Will Provide Food and Drink
Depending on when your party is and how long you plan for it to be you will need to provide your guests with food. A lot of venues have packages that will provide food for you or this can be arranged with the venue if they have a kitchen.
You will also need to think about how you provide drinks for your guest. Paying for the drinks yourself can be expensive, so you might choose to have guests pay for their own drinks at the bar if you are having your party at a venue.
If you are hosting the party at home however this can be a little tricky and if you want guests to bring their own provisions you will have to make that clear on the invitation.
Don’t Forget the Little Touches
You want people to remember your engagement party and still be talking about it right up to the wedding day. To do this you need to make sure you add in all those little details that really make a night unique.
Something as simple as a sweet bar or photo booth can help add a little bit of fun and magic to the night and give people something to remember the party by.
Or if you like you can even use the engagement party to trial things for your wedding. You can give party favours out or try making little fun centrepieces for the table. Something like gourmet jelly beans are a fun and vibrant way to add colour to a table and give the guest something to remember and take away with at the end of the night.
